Please note that Professor Weerasooriya only undertakes procedures in private hospitals. Procedure costs are shared by the patient, Medicare, and private health insurance (as long as the level of cover is silver or gold). Excellent heart rhythm management is not just about procedures. It is now well established that outcomes are improved by lifestyle modification (particularly weight loss) and by diagnosis and management of sleep apnoea, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol and hypertension.
For this reason, patients may be referred to testing services and specialists outside of the Heart Rhythm Clinic. We have clinical but not economic relationships with cardiac testing services, specialised imaging services, exercise and rehabilitation services via the cardiac rehabilitation team at Hollywood Private Hospital, and testing and management services for sleep apnoea to offer a completely individualised management plan to our patients.
