If you have seen another cardiologist or cardiac electrophysiologist it is very useful to have copies of any previous letters, test results, and procedure reports. You may not have access to copies of these so it is useful to know the name of your previous doctors and the location where any testing was performed. If you are not able to get copies yourself then the Heart Rhythm Clinic reception team can request this information on your behalf.

We require a copy of your referral prior to booking an appointment. This referral and any enclosures your referring doctor has included will outline the medical issue requiring attention, as well as any relevant history and prescribed medications.

To be eligible for a rebate from Medicare, it's important to have a valid referral. Typically, referrals from general practitioners are valid for a year, while those from specialists or physicians are only valid for three months.

Heart Rhythm Clinic is a private billing practice and procedure costs are shared between the patient, Medicare, and the private health insurer. Your insurance will only contribute to the cost if you hold gold or silver level cover and have passed your waiting period. You will be given an itemized invoice and payment will be required prior to booking your procedure. To find out what amount your health insurer will pay, please contact them directly and give them the item numbers provided in the invoice.
