An electrophysiologist is a sub-specialist cardiologist who specialises in arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats). Professor Weerasooriya’s interests include Atrial Fibrillation, Atrial Flutter, Supraventricular Tachycardia, and Ventricular Tachycardia.
He does not consult patients with general cardiology issues or implanted cardiac devices.
Prior to an appointment the Heart Rhythm Clinic requires copies of the reports from any cardiac testing that you have undergone. These include:
- ECG
- Holter monitor / Event monitor
- Echocardiogram
- CT coronary angiogram
- SmartWatch ECG recordings

We require a copy of your referral prior to booking an appointment. This referral and any enclosures your referring doctor has included will outline the medical issue requiring attention, as well as any relevant history and prescribed medications.
To be eligible for a rebate from Medicare, it's important to have a valid referral. Typically, referrals from general practitioners are valid for a year, while those from specialists or physicians are only valid for three months.
Professor Weerasooriya operates exclusively in the private system. He does see patients without insurance but the assistance he can offer is limited
